OUR SERVICES
Copy Editing
As an academic language editor, I offer to improve the content and layout of your document. Highly skilled professional language editors know and understand what it is that academic works such as journal articles, PhD and master’s theses, grant applications, book chapters and oral or other presentations require.
With an eye for detail and even without much subject matter expertise, we are able to spot and correct such things as typographical errors (typos) or grammatical errors and problems such as poorly constructed sentences or improper formatting, referencing or citing. Basically, we will help to ensure that your document meets the highest possible academic standards for examination. It will have the correct terminology and level of formality, whilst still being clearly understood by your intended audience.
You will receive a thoroughly edited and marked-up version of your manuscript (using Track Changes) so that you can see every change that we’ve made. This way, you are then free to accept or reject these changes as you see fit. We like to collaborate with you to ensure that your work is of the highest standard, that any awkwardly phrased sentences are written clearly with attention to grammar and punctuation and that your manuscript adheres to university or other guidelines for formatting and referencing. We will also flag repetitive information for removal and
highlight any potential plagiarism problems.
Whilst an academic editor can ensure that your written work is of the highest standard, we do not rewrite your thesis or journal article for you or write anything on your behalf, nor do we stand in for your university professor. We realise that excellent academic writing opens the doors to success in your studies and this is where we are happy to be of assistance.
